we take sporting games too seriously. I
am the first to say I am guilty. Bad
calls by referees. Lame coaching decisions, that
might affect a kids future. I am not blind enough
to not know bad decisions were made this year. A
boy who had eleven or twelve passes caught eight
for two touchdowns. But reality and lessons come
from my own family who see through the disappointment.
What follows is great advice to all parents and players.

To #41

Years from now it won't matter how many wins
and losses you have had. What matters is the
life lessons football has taught you. It has taught
you to how to be part of a team. It has taught
you that you need to work hard to achieve results.
It has taught you that even if you work hard
that still might not be enough, and luck and chance
also play a role in success. It has taught you to
be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

But perhaps most importantly it has taught you to
be a good friend. As much as seeing you play, we
enjoyed getting to know and watching you develop
friendship with your football buddies, including
Blaze, Micah, Chad, Matt E, Bryce, Mitchel, Cameron
and all the rest.

These lessonS and the friendships you developed are
more important in the long-run than whether or not
your team won more games or not. We are so proud of
the man you have become. Congratulations on all those
achievements. We love you!

As a Father I am proud of my son for writing this.
Grandpa of course still has to learn some humility.
When number 41 scores a touchdown there is no celebration.
He hands the ball to the closest referee. He helps no matter
how violent the tackle an opposing player from the ground.
I have watched as members of the other team come over out
of there way to extend a hand. I watched one time as he
crossed the field after a game seeing the player who violently
tackled him and lay on the field. Wanting to find out if he
was Ok. Appreciative of his sportsmanship.

Asked his favorite memories of being a Falcon Football player
my Grandson responded to questions,

What would you like to communicate to your coaches?

"Thank you for helping me become a better football player.
The time you commit to the team." Not what Grandpa's would reply.

What is the best advice your Mom and Dad have given you"

"They told me to always give your best effort I can possibly give."

What are your plans and aspirations for the next phase of you life?

"My plan is to go to college and figure out my carear."

What advice do you have for future Falcon Football players?

"Give 100 percent every rep because you are making yourself
and your team better."

Seems the lessons have been learned
