Let’s just suppose a bank account
Were opened in your name
And $86, 400 dollars
Could be all yours to claim
However, with conditions…
It’s carried one day at a time…
And cancelled every evening…
Not leaving so much as a dime .
How do you think you’d handle this?
Would you spend it every day?
I certainly would draw it out…
Even if I gave it all away.
Why leave it to be cancelled?
That certainly would not be smart!
I’d prefer to use it doing good…
To bless another's heart.
God deposits time in our account
On every solidary morning.
We get 86, 400 seconds
With every new day’s dawning.
Suppose we use that day’s deposit…
Because it's cancelled every night.
Records of that day destroyed...
With new ones starting at first light.
So decisions must be made, of course,
To use each deposit there wisely
Think happiness, health, peace of mind,
Success, prosperity.
Each decision is a door of hope…
A door of refuse, of escape.
Choice, not chance, determines
Whatever destiny we make.
Time used to spread the gospel
Is time wisely spent for sure.
And time to love your neighbor
Will throw open friendship's door.
Time one spends with family
Has really got to be a must...
Here we set up building blocks
Of never ending trust.
Time spent one on one with God
Is the very best of time
For in His Presence comes such peace...
True peace of heart and mind.
Time to study and to read
His Word will surely pay...
For spread across each page we'll find
The Truth, the Life, the Way!
Okay, first thing in the morning
Let's withdraw what God puts in...
And spend it doing things we should...
Let each God-blessed day begin!

~~Author's Note~~
Inspiration for this poem came from reading
Valley of Decision, a book by Dr. Drew Rouse. These are mostly his words...I liked what I read
and prayed for the ability to put those words
into rhyme.
But I trust in you, O LORD; I say,
"You are my God." My times are
in your hand."
– Psalm 31:14-15, ESV
"Lord, remind me how brief my time
on earth will be. Remind me that my days
are numbered – how fleeting my life is." –
Psalm 39:4, NLT
Look carefully then how you walk,
not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of the time,
because the days are evil. Therefore
do not be foolish, but understand
what the will of the Lord is."
– Ephesians 5:15-17, ESV
Be wise in the way you act toward
outsiders; make the most of every
opportunity.
Colossians 4:5, NIV
