Poetic-Verses

'' What's A Recession ''

The last tin has gone,
Christmas is tough,
No brand new dawn,
Times are so rough.

No food to taste,
On this special day,
No money to waste,
No presents to display.

Working like mad,
Too many hours,
It's really so sad,
Good feeling it sours.

Those who rule,
They don't have a care,
I am the fool,
Life just isn't fair.

I pay my taxes,
While they're on the fiddle,
They wield their axes,
I'm stuck in the middle.

Austerity measures,
Affect mainly the poor,
The rich keep their pleasures,
That is for sure.

Take Wills and Kate,
As they wait on the stork,
What is their fate?
Partying in New York?

A luxury hotel,
Ten grand a night,
While our lives are Hell,
Theirs are all right.

You may well ask,
What's all the fuss?
While in splendour they bask,
What's in it for us?

At the end of the night,
They ring up the till,
What gives me a fright,
Is we pay their bill.

The Vatican finds millions,
In a hidden cache,
To add to their trillions,
Their God needs a stash?

National debt's been reduced,
Is it a third or a half?
The stats they've produced,
Prove they're having a laugh.

Trillions in debt,
Doesn't merit a mention,
While we're in a sweat,
They're at a convention.

While food bank supplies,
Relieve our depression,
Those devils in disguise,
Ask,

‘'What's A Recession?''
