As a dream when one awakes, The dream merely fades away; The thought of Christ also makes, An exit as go astray. When my heart was filled with wrath, My mind was seized with envy; As I walked down the wrong path, My shoulders had felt heavy. I was stupid, just plain dumb, For I did not understand; Just feeling moody and glum, Treading upon sinking sand. I felt like a dumb animal, In the presence of the Lord; I thought that it was normal, Thoughts of Him merely ignored. Yet, He is always with me, Holding on to my right hand; I was blind and could not see, In the place where I did stand. He did advise to guide me, For taking me to glory; But not listening what He, Was telling me a story. But who have I in Heaven, That can show me my future; With another chance given, To become a new creature. I saw I need no other, In Heaven or on the earth; Having Christ as a Brother, He is giving me rebirth. My body may waste away, But God is my foundation; So just let the mind decay, Since God gives me salvation. Copyright © 2014 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
