Ask the Lord our God, To please give you a sign; For to honor and laud, What came from the Divine. It can be anything, That He would desire; Maybe a cloud to bring; A pillar of fire. But I can never ask, That is testing the Lord; As I begin this task, To stay in one accord. But listen to me now, You children of David; We need to find out how, The Lord has not aided. For is it not enough, His testing the patience; Of those who had it rough, Having no clear conscience. Test not the patience of, Our God up in Heaven; That wants to show His love, For a child is given. So the Lord our God, Is giving you this sign; As to honor and laud, A child that is Divine. For a virgin gives birth, Bodied from the Spirit; And all here on the earth, Also will inherit. And she will then proclaim, To call Immanuel; God is with us by name, Honored by all who dwell.
