The Human Mind

They say they are working

Mapping the Human mind,

They don’t seem to worry

About what they might find.

There are racial memories

Filed away down there deep

Some of them so horrible

They interfere with your sleep.

Nightmares so graphic

Vividly real dreams

That wrest you awake

To muffle the screams.

Landscapes so horrendous,

A long fight to survive

The only victory being

Just being alive.

Safety in numbers

 Forming the troupe,

Gathering together

Safety in the group.

The visions scroll on

Brought from the mind’s deep

Grinding of teeth ending in

A tortured jerking from sleep.

They don’t seem to worry

About what they might find

When they say they are working

Mapping the Human mind.
