This week I shed tears
Mom and Sis died this week
January 17-January 19
In different years of coarse
Mom today, Sis on Mom's birthday
Mom was born January 17,1918
She lived only 54 years
Sis a stroke at 66
Ironically on the day of her mother's birth
Mom's life was sad and abused
We all shared loved of sports
It was Mom who got me a basketball scholarship
took my application to the Dean of students
A family friend of hers since grade school
Mom and my step dad never missed a Mariner game
The Green Bay cheeseheads were leading 16-0
Not being mean as a child Green bay was my team
I sat motionless--Sis had died and Mom was fighting
Years earlier both taken on a cold January day
this being many years before but on these days
The game was background I was maudlin lost in thoughts
Then a miracle--a fake field goal a touchdown
I looked up--Mom could it be?
But less than three minutes left 19-7
There was help, Jeri wearing blue and green
Sitting as an Angel on my shoulder
The man who talks with his play scored again
Down 19-14 an impossible offside kick
Did the earth shake rain from the sky?
The air alive with Seahawks dreams alive
One minute and seconds left 22-19 a win it would seem
Don't count out one of footballs best
A long field goal and overtime
Overtime 22-22 but on this day Mom
was wearing number twelve blue and green
The miracle had happened and angels sat on my shoulder
I often ask who writes my scrip and now I know
Yesterday Mom was wearing number 12
Today she well once again be in heaven with Jesus
But yesterday she wiped the tears from my eyes
A long pass, an amazing catch, Seahawks 28-22 in overtime
Two weeks and the Seahawks once again in Superbowl
