The Way
Jesus says I am the way; there is no other way than Me
Many will try a different way but they’ll soon come to see
Not just the way to the judgment seat, all roads lead there
But will you enter into His rest or just stand and stare
Paul urges us to examine ourselves, keep our motives pure
If most were truthful in their hearts, they wouldn’t be so sure
It’s not about the good you do; good works are not the way
It’s not about the songs you sing or instruments you play
You can’t get in by a wearing a T- shirt or tattoo on your arm
You can’t get in by having a license plate or religious charm
Occasional church attendance alone won’t get it done
In fact when it comes to services, you could make every one
The way as told to Nicodemus who desired to make it in
Flesh is flesh but spirit is spirit; you must be born again
The way is a confession that Jesus is Gods only Son
Followed by repentance for all the wrong you’ve done
The way is the direction, the road you travel on
A commitment to remain when all your friends are gone
The way is to follow even though you cannot see
Pick up your cross Jesus says; close your eyes and follow me
The way is His example of humility and love
Laying down your own desires, placing His above
Walking in forgiveness, and with a servants heart
Just as you were forgiven, sanctified and set apart
The way must be studied out, and diligently rehearsed
Excepting it as truth and honoring every single verse
The way is not an easy one; you die a little more each day
Your every action criticized, your whole life on display
Just as the Savior was, stretched high and wide on the cross
The way is like a toll lane, it does come with a cost
There are many called, but the chosen are very few
The way is long and narrow, and sometimes lonely too
Jesus says I am the way; there is no other than Me
Many will try a different way but they’ll soon come to
see
