Ashleigh's Poems
Contradiction
If I close my eyes tight just enough
It'll all fade just enough
And I'll sleep tonight
If I can get away to a greater escape
My hollow, empty escape
I'll feel like I belong
Because on the outside, I'm more than okay
But there's a war inside of me
It's taking everything, rotting me away
And my heart can't seem to beat
If I can get approval from the Big Man
The Big “I Can't See Him” Man
Then my life would be just right
If I can kneel down and pray for myself
To Him to loves me, but I hate myself
Then I'd feel like a hypocrite
Because on the outside, I'm more than okay
But there's a war inside of me
It's taking everything, rotting me away
And my heart can't seem to beat
It'll all fade just enough
And I'll sleep tonight
If I can get away to a greater escape
My hollow, empty escape
I'll feel like I belong
Because on the outside, I'm more than okay
But there's a war inside of me
It's taking everything, rotting me away
And my heart can't seem to beat
If I can get approval from the Big Man
The Big “I Can't See Him” Man
Then my life would be just right
If I can kneel down and pray for myself
To Him to loves me, but I hate myself
Then I'd feel like a hypocrite
Because on the outside, I'm more than okay
But there's a war inside of me
It's taking everything, rotting me away
And my heart can't seem to beat
