Ashleigh's Poems
Her Over the Years
I was only 17 when she walked in the room
She came so close to me I could smell her perfume
And in the way she walked, I could tell she needed to be loved
With a voice as smooth as water, she took me surprise
With a face as bright as the sun, she captivated my eyes
with a touch as soft as roses, she took me in close
I was only 18 when she walked in the room
She looked like she had been crying, and then I wanted to cry too
And in the way she walked, I could tell she was in pain
With a voice as cold as ice, she said she was okay
With a face as dark as night, she just wasn't the same
with a touch as rough as sand, she pushed me away
I was only 19, and I was alone in the room
I heard a noise out in the hallway, I went running confused
And there she was crying on the floor
With a voice as low as a sunset, she said it had spread
With a face as dull as dirt, she already looked dead
with a touch so weak...i just held her instead
I was only 20 when I walked in the room
she just laid there silent and that's when I knew
By the way she wasn't breathing, I knew she was gone
With a voice as strained as a battered window pane
I told my love good bye
With a face so blank and with such disdain
I watch my love go that night
With a touch so fragile, I held an unlit candle
And I put her casket away
