“Yes, your mom is gone.
You need to move on.
She would want you
to be happy.”

You don’t understand
How I feel!
You don’t understand
how much it is hurting me.

It wasn’t of age.
It wasn’t a freak accident.
It was from an illness
and I was there until the very end.

“Your mom is gone, yes.
She is in peace.
She want you to be happy.
You need to move on.”

You don’t understand
How I feel!
You don’t understand
How it is killing me.

I was there
For months
All those hospital visits
Meetings with doctors and nurses

“It is time to let your mom go.
She will always be with you.
She is in your heart.
She loved you so much.”

You don’t understand
How I feel!
You don’t understand
How I feel I failed her.

I was there
Until the very end
I had to watch
The woman who gave me life die.

“It is not your fault.
It is her body.
She did not choose this.
Her body just gave away.”

You don’t understand
How I feel!
You don’t understand
What I’ve gone through.

I tried in vain
To keep her comfortable and healthy
I tried so hard
To keep my mom alive.

“You were there for her.
She knew you were there.
She loved you very much
And she doesn’t want you to feel this way.”

You don’t understand...
You just don’t understand.
Anyone who wasn't there
Would never understand...
