EACH DAY I DEAL WITH MY PAIN

 photo daytona3large_d3f0.jpg

I have been trying to handle the pain I suffer
But it is much harder during this cold weather
Yet here it's April and still it is cold here

You would think that by this time of the year
Things would have been improved weather wise
In Michigan our nights have been very cold

It is that cold which aggravates my symptoms
The many side effects from chemical exposure
Neuropathy from severe nerve damage is painful

Muscle cramps that wake you up in the night
Causing those very extreme degrees of pain
I would never wish this on any other person

Yet this has been my life for many years now
It keeps me from doing many things I use to do
Walking alone becomes more difficult each day

My doctors tell me that at some point soon
That I will have to use a motorized scooter
As it is very painful on my joints to walk

I had watched my mother having to use one
Her own medical issues made it hard for her
So she had needed one just to get around

They are helpful but you become dependent
My mother would never try to walk again
So I am holding off for as long as I can

My mother who died last August at 92 years old upon
hearing last summer that I might also have to use a
electric scooter full time in the near future myself
told me that I should wait as long as I can before I
make that decision because it was so much easier to
use the scooter than to even try to walk even short
distances in her own home and she had never tried to
walk again. I know her own doctor told her that she
needed to at least try to walk several times a week
even for short distances at her home but she didn't
and she had regretted that as she got older. I also
remember that one of my mother's favorite quotes was
listed on her obituary on her site at Poetrypoem.com
"Inside every old person is a young person wondering
what the hell happen".
