'' Honesty It Smothers ''

It wasn't me,
It must have been you,
Let me see,
What can I do?

I'll tell a lie,
No one will know,
Which will I try?
I'll put on a show.

They're all uncouth,
Why should I care?
Hiding the truth,
Though can be unfair.

On who you ask,
Do you have no shame?
It's a bit of a task,
To forfeit all blame.

Please understand,
Innocence is bliss,
Though out of hand,
The truth I won't miss.

I'm as guilty as sin,
Am I really that snide?
I feel something within,
The truth I can't hide.

Conscience it's called,
You know you're lying,
It cannot be stalled,
It's a bit like dying.

Dragging people down,
Affects you and others,
Why do lies cause a frown?
Because,
