SOME OF THE THINGS THAT I FEAR MOST IN MY OWN LIFE

There's this short list I keep in my brain
It's of the things I fear most in my life
Those things that can keep me up some nights

One is the fear of losing a family member
Whether it's by an accident or some illness
It's always been there since losing my Dad

I learned in war just how fragile life is
You see it can be taken from us so quickly
Or it can be a very long and painful exit

There's many things to fear in this world
Violent criminals, wars and even weather
Nothing can scare me more than a tornado

While I was serving in Illinois after Vietnam
I was stationed at Scott Air Force Base there
We were about twenty miles from ST. Louis, MO.

Which is part of what they call tornado alley
The path that many tornado's would traveled  
From Texas and through the Midwestern states

While there we would help with the searches
Looking for the victims of deadly tornado's
The military were always part of the cleanup

We took part in the search and rescue missions
Going house to house we searched for survivors
But then too many times we only found victims

There were families wiped out in mere seconds
Some didn't listen to all the advanced warnings
Waiting till the very last second to seek shelter

Some had no where to go they didn't have basements
And the tornado was just too big and destructive
Striking and leveling the homes to the foundations

I went through eight tornado's while down there
And to this day nothing scares me more in life
Not even Vietnam scared me like a tornado does

This past week triggered way to many memories
Watching results on TV from multiple tornado's
It's just another form of Post Traumatic Stress

Please pray for all those who have been affected or suffered
losses to their families and their own property this past week
throughout the Midwestern states here in America. According to
the current weather reports, we may be facing another threat of
some more monster storms from Texas all the way up here to the
Michigan area where we live and we also had some very severe
thunderstorms just two weeks ago.
