The Beauty and The Beast

Crushed, bruised with throbbing head
And a man beside me in bed
Rum had drowned my consciousness
Last night I was a damsel in distress
On impulse I dashed to escape
Shocked to be with a nameless creep

Vexed with my broken spirit
I sobbed accepting defeat
Let the tears soothe the pain
Lick the wounds and let it mend
Always my elders counselled me
Home is the safest place to be
Evil had spread bait for their prey
Reject not their words, safe you'll be
My heart now dressed in sorrow
Over the years they watched me grow
Shame a stranger plucked what they sow
A load of guilt told me leave just go

Rascal the beast came like a thief
A grenade and gun armed for mischief
Vicious threat to kill my family
If I refuse his plan of matrimony
Naive was I but my life I gave
A bargain made to haunt me
for  as long as I live...
