Suited and Booted
Medals on display
Following his coffin
To salute a Veteran today.

He saw active service
Saw Bosnia’s Hell
The streets of Northern Ireland
Served in the Gulf as well.

Disabled and stressed
His discharge complete
He fought to survive
On return to civvie street,

I don’t know his whole story,
Only know that he is gone,
Finally deciding that
He just couldn’t carry on.

We parade with respect
To see him on his way;
In sadness and in sorrow
We salute a Brother today.
