The darkness settled in,
quite some time ago. ..
a night, the same as many others,
the starlight all around.
Quietly sitting, by the fires fading glow,
off in the distance, just beyond the ridge,
the sky began to change. ..
The slightest colors could be seen,
so very far away.
At first it seemed a milky mist,
but that too soon would change.
As it crept even closer,
the light took on a brilliance,
of electric greenish hues.
The sky became alive with light,
dancing overhead. ...
Waves of light, again, again
washing over everything, everything in view
colored bands, streaking even more.
And just as soon it started,
the colored sky no more.
