 Penniluck's legacy

Forever and Ever

In memory of my husband John who has stolen my sleep since he passed on nearly two years ago. I suddenly felt the urge to write this at 1.30am this morning 28/5/15 as if somehow John was telling me to remember the good times, so I will try to do just that.

I close my eyes and see your face intent on making music,
I watch your huge hands playing bravely across the strings
as they play my melody, so I can sing,
and as I do you harmonize with me in a tender voice.
Four Walls, I missed me, Who's sorry now,
I am sorry now, you promised me a rainbow
that would fit upon my finger
told me we would stroll the lanes together
as usual.

We giggled beneath the covers as we deliberately
mixed up our sentences, a rose by any other name
we said would smell as sweet,
which brought us to feet ma feel
but all those bridges are under the water now,
you have left me to dream the dreams alone
from memories of what once was.
But I won't forget to remember
the good times as I lay my head upon my pillow
and hear the the raindrops falling
soft against my window,
in my heart we will never part,
love really does hurt,
but memories lie hidden
still very much alive.

Covered in oil from fixing cars,
electric shocks from mending televisions,
long hair and platform shoes,
dimples and oil of ulay,
cold beans, your favourite,
lots of children,
Glasgow airport where we walked
and you gave in and we caught the bus home
while I smiled because I beat you for once.
Loch Lomond and May blossom,
a tree trunk dinosaur where we sat together
and watched the loch sparkle
and where we found a heart shaped stone
and kept it.
Ben Lomand which we didn't climb
but gazed at in awe.
We could not afford souvenirs
but lots of memories were planted
in our fertile young hearts.
You left, I stay but today
I touched the core of our lives
And now is the hour I found the power
To put aside sad movies,
keeping only the rainbows
in our life together,
forever and ever.
