A Walk upon the Water

There I was drifting aimlessly on the sea of despair
Tossed and turned to and fro by the storms of care
What to do, where to go, how and when to give in
Over taken by the waves and seeking deep into sin
All around was darkness with no way to see
Through sounds of thunder I heard a voice calling me
There the image of a man though I scarcely believed
Could it be the Son of man or am I being deceived
Lord is that you I cried exhausted and out of breath
My ship was like my casket floating to certain death
If so Lord bid me walk on the water and come to you
By faith you may come if you believe it is true
Now a new dilemma stirs inside of me
Try to walk upon the water or die here in the sea
Out of desperation I step out on a prayer
And to my amazement Jesus was standing there
His arms open wide to beckon me forth
Just then the wave seemed to change flow and force
In the split second it took to move my eyes from him
There I found myself sinking once again
But he reached out his hand and pulled me close
And said have faith and you’ll walk coast to coast
Take my yoke upon you and learn of me
You will speak to the mountains and tame the sea
I took him at his word now I’m calming the waves
A living testimony that Jesus saves
The storms of life still rage every now and again
But I keep my eyes on heaven and I jump right in
Walking through the valley of the shadow of death
Assured of my savoir and each promise is kept
A walk upon the water is an expression of love
Just a piece of what a child of God is capable of
More than a conqueror through faith and grace
Until we reach heaven into our rightful place
Get out of the boat and take the Lord by the hand
By his word in you the sea obeys your command
Believe in more than what logic tells you
And see what faith in the Lord will do
Walk upon the water live your life in faith
Believe in the power of His amazing grace
