One-thousand still paper cranes
flew from dedicated fingers
spreading for your spirit
floating white forever
in a heavenly number
that must surely glide
intercession your way
the purity of origami came
from the gods so you thought
they would heal inside and yet
you died from atomic disease
evil had entered your body
a decade after deliverance
dispatched a soul bleeding
for another chance
your flesh moved to metal
now offers outstreched hope
hands open: reaching , yearning
in the only direction they know
as the icon flies its message
no one should follow you
