Heaven is a Test Match

With a comfy seat at square,

A crowd of Roses fans

Surrounding me there.

An everlasting pint of John Smiths,

A gentle crossing  breeze

Testing the openers

As the seamers probe and tease.

A row of three slips waiting

For the fine edge snick,

A field set for singles

If they take them quick.

A bowler roaring in.

A batter taking guard.

A fine cut for four

Steered firm and hard.

A finely balanced match

When the day's stumps are drawn,

A night's good sleep,

The match resumes with the dawn.

Two balanced teams,

A well prepared wicket,

Heaven is a seat at square

Watching Test Match Cricket.
