Waking up to you By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
I woke up to the smell of rich coffee
And warm, fresh hickory
Waltzing through the atmosphere,
As if no sorrow had ever lived here.
I woke up to a crack of sunlight,
Surreptitiouslyplanning to overthrow the dark night,
Preparing for war on the wooden floor,
Only victory, nothing less or more.
I woke up in a room of walls of crimson,
Contrasting with the black on the windows-satin.
The shadows and silhouettes singing together,
As the sofa keeps the beat with creaking leather.
But best of all, I woke up this morning to you.
You getting ready for work, kissing me, making coffee for two.
I used to always hate the mornings to tell the truth;
But because of you, waking up is my favorite thing to do.
