The sailor who loved By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
A pale skinned puppeteer with
Even paler puppets
Performed his play on
The mayor's newly tailored carpet
The children,
Tucked under bed covers and blankets
Plucked their wet lips
From the tips of their paper trumpets
To his glory,
The puppet master muster a story
Of a young maiden and
A sailor who used to love her
He loved her so much,
He loved her even when love hurt
But she couldn't help until
He learned to love himself first
By that time,
He realized what he was worth
So the sailor began to accept
And ended his search
The pale skinned puppeteer was
About finished with his tale
As the mayor was
With his last glass of ale
When his soggy beard
Failed to stop his dropping tears
One of the children from the rear
Stood and asked why
The mayor's eyes sparkled as clear
As his newly cleaned crystal chandelier
He didn't know what to say
To what the child asked
Once, he made a promise
Never to sail to the past
