Gathering of the Palavering

She lived in
The Meek Building
off of Belmont Avenue
some will say about her...

BUT
she's not a meek girl
no, not at all

too colorful
for our tastes
and persistent

howdy-do-chipper
always spreading the sunshine
and bowing hello
like that little old birdie dipper

doesn't she know that sometimes it rains?

they stomp-mope about
dust motes flutter up
choking out the breathable air
but not her big-bold smile

they carry with them
fold-up-able yardsticks
in their backed-up-able pockets
and
blood red lead pencils
behind their donkey
bendable ears

they're staunch-ready for
corrective-action
for that first mistake of hers
so they can verify and rightfully declare
their rightness

but instead
she just a-glimmers
and ashimmers n' shines
and apositivly-glows
in their deep dank darkness

yet they jack-hammer hammer
n' palaver away

donkey see
donkey do-do
donkey be-nothing-but
hee-haw-unhappy
all the day

they can't stand that
a woman like her exists
and the the don't like the way
she keeps to her own business

nor possesses her flair
for unusual persistence
Gawd, no!
