'Metaphors of Life'

"To each their own," the saying goes,
I hope you find what you're looking for,
For each bend you round, can take you down
A road yet undiscovered.

<><><>

With each new sun upon its rise
Doth bring a brand new day,
It's yours to take, and yours to make
The best in your own way.

<><><>

But there are times when a fall exists
That you did not see coming,
The road you walked was filled with cracks
That opened wide, and erased your tracks.

<><><>

[And what is your excuse for languishing,
Or your reason for second guessing?
Is your hidden reason now surfacing
To show itself in all its splendid glory?]

<><><>

We can waste our time configuring
The life we feel we're owed,
Or we can place our bet on our own self worth
That was given us at our time of birth.

<><><>

Life can be avenues filled with twists, and turns,
Each one a delight, or one that will burn,
But each step that we take is ours for the taking,
And our metaphors of life, are ours for the making.

~ Metaphors ... they can be anything we wish them to be.
I believe that is what a metaphor truly is, for it is
through comparisons and assimilation that we map our path
through life and all that it throws our way, regardless of
what that may be. By using a 'metaphor' it can take
the onus from what we truly meant, possibly saving us
unwanted embarrassment on either end of the spectrum. I
think everyone has their own take on what a metaphor truly is,
and whatever yours may be, may it bring you satisfaction in the end. ~
