smile for me
all pale shored and shy
your brown hands resting assured and their soft warmth
spreading lazily,
feel the heat of your breath
on my cheek,
when i am afraid in the dark
you are there
with grey winter words
and a heart
like a black feathered bird
folding wings around my shaking
shoulders.
i would recognise those
dark earthen eyes
anywhere.
