Going thru the fire is a hard place to be
Where God chastens and chizzles to make you whom you’re called to be
Tugging and pulling it’s the battle of my mind
Whatever it is I’m looking for it’s God I’ll surely find
Sometimes running so scared and hiding in places
The pain I feel inside I can see in so many other faces
Feelings that no friend can comfort
In finding my purpose and realizing my worth.
“Be still and know that I am God”…he says with a small voice
All the while broken and hurting I really have to make a choice
Will I trust in you God to do what you will?
So many twists and turns and climbing up hills
I’m tattered and torn not much strength to press ahead
“I’m carrying you along the way and I’m the lifter of your head”
He reminds me “I’ve not given you the Spirit of fear”
“You know my voice which you truly did hear”
“Put all your trust in Me”
“I’m working it all out and setting you free”
Going thru the fire is a hard place to be
There’s nowhere to run to when it’s God facing me.
