That joy of authentic rolls like holy grains
out of a poor poet's reach.
Like a bud waiting for heat's inspiration
before unfolding petals
or a newly laid egg the poet must break
to reveal true nourishment.
Dreams of authentic wring writers' veins
with each day's awakening.
Like a shadow waiting to see where to fall
or some electrical storm
the scribe has to enter for transformation
as light bursts into freedom.
Versing authentic requires divers afraid
of no stepping off high wires.
Alone and naked in search of uniqueness
a wordsmith's brave spirit swims
out to unchartered lettery-seas for naught
but a sense of achievement.
Ventures in versing mean drowning in ink.
Poets know this yet crave to leap.
