He watches her
Lick the mouth of that bottle without any
conscious intent
of taking anyone along
But he watches her still,
and he has brought
Her down to the recesses of his heart
where she would walk along the rim of his personal lake
Watched each foot leave its mark into the soil and deeper
Into the lonely green.
If only he could allow just one word
Her personality, her flaws, her being had put behind
His teeth. . .
This woman.
He could cease momentarily and she'd kindly smile
at a puff of smoke.
