  October's Child

ALWAYS SEARCHING

ALWAYS SEARCHING

I long for the seaside and a pink-tinted sky
In a cottage etched from four-leaf clovers
A silent mortal waiting as time ebbs by
Just sorting life's graffiti as winter draws nigh

---------------

Singing lullabies ‘n' folk songs, watching orcas smile
Wearing sunflower dresses under buttermilk clouds
Nibbling rose petals amid lilies of the Nile
Boarding pirate vessels to drift a treacherous mile

---------------

Searching for my shadow in Pandora's secret box
Reading sand messages inked in sea-spray
Foam written mysteries; shared secrets from the bay
Lapping at the shores on any given day

---------------

Until my thoughts run dry like a thirsty barren land
And the curved blade of darkness finds my hand
You'll find my reflection under a pink sky
A silent mortal waiting --- in the sweet by and by
