Zeros and ones
ZEROS AND ONES
There is nothing more important in the world
Than imagination
It has built everything from an ant hill to a sky scraper
From a tiny wheel on a watch
To a tremendous blade on a turbine engine
It has taken us into outer space
Where we can play amongst the stars
It has swam with us to the bottom of the sea
It has given us the glorious sound of music
That touch our very soul
And that high note that is not on the instruction box
Imagination has always said yes
When the Summa Cum Laude tassels have said no
It has built skyscrapers
Where we can have a conversation with the clouds
At lunch time
It is crystal clear like a cool stream
That flows from the center of the world
It is as bright as the sun that burns off
The morning mist into crystal clear clarity
It has allowed us to make something out of nothing
A pile of sticks and stones into a masterpiece
It is the voice of a child and the air in which we breathe
Without the imagination
We are only crunching numbers in an unsympathetic world
Of illusion..
It has made the impossible dream a reality
And now it has been sentenced
To the gas chamber by the zero's and ones
And if we allow this to happen
We will have then relinquished our most valuable asset
And turned our human side
Into unemotional systematic calculations that mean nothing
For it will be then that we have reached
The beginning of
The End..
