He is like a wild stallion
Lord, I'll never keep him fenced in!
He rares up and bucks me
When I try to steer him from sin.
He likes wide open spaces...
To frolic with fillies each night.
Lord, he's young and unbroken,
I can't seem to train this one right.
As a youngster he did learn
Your ways and he did know Your Word...
But his mind's out to pasture
He's forgotten each truth that he's heard.
He's not quite there yet but
Determined to live life his way...
Lord, I've tried but can't stop him!
O, what can a mom do but pray?!
Please round him up, rope him,
Lord, move him into Your corral.
You're the one who designed him
And he needs You as his saddle pal.
I've tried running beside him
But a parent cannot be a friend.
As the Good Book has taught us
All young colts must be disciplined.
O, Lord break him and make him
Into all You've created him for...
While I stress over his wild streak
I know You see into his core.
I know that childhood commitment
Is still buried somewhere deep within.
Prevent that bad bull who stalks him
From destroying his future with sin.
Lord, I'm expecting to see him
In that final roundup in the sky!
Lord, I do have your promise...
It's branded in The Book I live by.
