I sensed an omen of what was to come
Naturally, it was a disaster
I have a gift for picking up on impending doom
An old salt who knows there's a storm brewing
By the tingle I get in the leg the whale ate
And carried to the depths of the sea
Leaving me a wreck of a human being
But one foot closer to rock bottom
The winds roar and my sails catch fire
My timbers shiver, my bowels quake
As the waves rise to mock the angry sky
They flap their wrists at the faces of the gods
And I can't help but hold my hand up to them too
Taunting the tempest with a fist and laughing
But I have been chilled to the bones, teeth chatter
I am soaked through and tossed asunder
I don't know how I've managed to survive this long
So I feel I must tip my skull to the skeleton crew
Who haunt the deck of my ricketyship
I must have something sitting on my shoulder
Helping me mimic a real life
I've just hit a patch of bad luck
and found myself running aground
I've dug a rut with my rudders but
I sense the tide will be changing
It will be smooth sailing from here on out
I hope
It's either that or I'm going to be swallowed whole
