Dear young gay boy,
society told you that strength is built up in weight rooms and gym class.
From hardcore football practices after school everyday,
society told you that strength was not crying when daddy told you
that you weren't quiet living up to his standards,
to try a bit harder even though your inspiration bar is running on a little less than half full.
Society didn't tell you that there is a different kind of strength that is built up inside you,
your emotions are layered upon each other
and they create different hues as if your insides were a bunch of rainbows trying to escape your body,
and maybe thats why daddy doesn't understand you...
Dear young gay boy,
the girls in your 10th grade classroom
laughed when you walked in the first day
wearing girls shorts and leggings,
Proud of who you were, they mocked you,
saying a guy should stick to his sexuality,
you told them in response,
that sexuality,
and gender?
Two completely different things.
Dear young gay boy,
You thought that something was wrong with you at first
when you couldn't look at a girl and have butterflies in your stomach.
But when you saw that guy for the first time,
you found out how music can be created inside your body,
he became a harmony to a melody that you didn't know you had,
All of a sudden,
the word love had a whole new meaning,
and didn't understand it till he became the composer to your symphony.
Dear young gay boy,
life will tell you that joy is a fleeting moment
that can only be captured by the best of us.
That love and success are words that only fit into certain categories....
show them that anything is possible.
