Over and over I come to this prison
Im wrapped up in chains and it's covered in barbs
Feels like a curse each day the suns risen
Blinding my eyes and elating my heart
Sun shining through casting shadows upon me
Throwing the bars black 'gainst the floor
Only as much light gets in as permitted
Showing I'm slave to the bars and the doors
This prison is self made I built it from scratch, see
I'm not quite ready to let my heart go
Locked it away from the sun for its safety
Never to feel warm but live in the cold
Why did I do this that question still stalks me
But freedom is out of my grasp anyway
The answer is pain loves to hide in the sunshine
You bask in the light for too long you get burned
