'' A Gift Without Love ''

She gave me a smile,
It didn't have feeling,
Nor did it beguile,
It was so unappealing.

I take hold of her hand,
Like I've always done,
I don't understand,
Two's no longer one.

I gaze into her eyes,
They're an empty space,
She puts on a disguise,
Of love there's no trace.

I compliment her looks
She puts on pretence,
Like reading books,
It suddenly makes sense.

That love we shared,
Is now one way,
I ask if she cared,
She refuses to say.

No point hanging on,
My heart has been burned,
My passion hasn't gone,
It's just not returned.

I decide to let go,
With some help from above,
Hers I now know,
Were,
