Whispers ring in minds that everything will be okay,
That we will persevere and live to face another day,
Yet what we're hearing we dare not say,
Many nights spent at home alone to drink and pray,
Give us wisdom give us grace,
Let us finish this life, this race,
Without crossing over with souls displaced,
Fearing above all else familial disgrace,
At last accepting fate with grin,
Holding up our heads and chins,
Patience no longer wearing thin,
Satisfied by feelings within,
Never going back to the way things were,
No longer wishing to disappear,
Living a life not a blur,
The soul now purrs.
