Dad,
Last night I whispered goodnight hoping you would hear me.
Something tells me you said you loved me.
Mom,
You've never been very good at hitting the right keys of my heart.
Practice makes perfect.
Brother,
Everything is silent as I strum a few strings
and I wonder why I don't call you whenever I play
and why you don't call me every time your mind says my name.
Sister,
When I hold my necklace as I sleep I see you in my dreams.
Do you hold your necklace when you sleep?
Do you even wear it?
Brother,
I have an essay tattooed on the inside of my skull.
5,000 words and the only word is your name.
Aunt,
I'm not sure if I believe or if I don't
Either way please pray for me.
Uncle,
You can only drown your demons for so long
No matter how strong the alcohol.
Uncle,
How long have you been wearing your hat a little too tight?
Aunt,
We have the same smile,
but I like yours more than I like mine.
