Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

In Retrospect

It's been so long now since first I walked away
The truth's become as faded as the memories I keep
Flickering images of a life that was thrown away
Still remind me of how things seemed always to be…

There was only glory to search for in retrospect
The darkness of each day cast shadows so wide
There was never a pathway that led me to freedom
Only Angels and Demons from whom I would hide…

I always felt weak when confronted with danger
The fear in my eyes could be seen clearly by all
I knew I had strength that surged through my body
But the fear of just fighting was the worst fear of all…

I cast myself away and wondered streets in strange cities
Never finding that “one” place I could truly call home
Fear had now given way to the need for survival
Living another world away from all I had known…
