The last time I heard the coal truck
I was eleven the trick or treater arrived
He was coming not for Candy for booze
It was Mom's payday he came to rob
I had prepared for this day
I apologize to the boys I fought in school
I was preparing to fight Dracula, my Father!
He was beating my mother'
"I said why don't you fight a man?"
I don't remember much of the ride to the hospital
Mom was cut and bleeding worried about me
I was in a coma and knew I would fight that man again
I apologize to the men I fought in smokers lying about my age
I was sixteen going on seventeen the day he came again
Sis and I were alone I heard the truck motor
Mom and my step-dad were preparing for their wedding
I heard the Monster pounding on the door,
"Open this door or I well break it in Dandy"
I told Sis to go out the front door
I was waiting inside only she went for the shotgun
She handed me the gun and bullets
It was mixed emotions I pulled the trigger
Not that I would kill him but I wanted to maim him
Just like he always beat my mother only he ran
The gun had rifle bullets and misfired
I threw the gun down and yelled for him to come back
Sis fell to the ground hit her head and was never the same
Every Halloween I see that Monster trick or treating
Moms and Sis are in heaven now father in hell
It is mixed emotions I cannot go after him but then--!
