I plunge my weight into a shallow, warm body of slow moving water
The texture reassures me that I'm safe
That I'm warm and sheltered from any unwelcome disturbance
The pressure of the melted merriment dismantles the patched up fabric from hugging my body so tightly
I'm light
Unbound by the securities of soil
Floating in shallow, warm, slow moving water
The gentle purity of this picture is more fragile than I know
It takes moments for clouds to intrude with a warning of dusk, crawling amongst the nutrient forrest leaves
The echoing Black Cockatoos resonate through the darkening landscape hung so vividly before me
The warmth of the water dissolves into a slithering surge of ice
Oxygen teases my lungs by dancing around my lips
Now the promised inviolability of the land deceives me
The bones in my body feel heavy on it's delicate surface
Maybe the sky will welcome me
