In A Fleeting Blink of an Eye. By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
I was sitting alone outside,
in the comfort of my back yard.
The breeze was relaxing and warm,
and not blowing too hard.
A white cloud moved aside,
to allow the sun's rays.
It was then I got a strange feeling
it was to be one of those days.
A blackbird flew down and perched
on the backrest of a nearby chair.
It looked me straight in the eye,
without any fear or care.
I didn't make a move or sound,
and neither did the bird.
Until it turned its head from side to side,
as if going to say a word.
Sure enough, it opened its beak,
and gave out an almighty sigh,
as though it had read the story of my life,
in a fleeting blink of an eye.
