If the Lord does not build the house, It is useless for to repair; When you do not have a spouse, If you are not willing to share. If the Lord does not guard a city, Then useless for a guard to stay; Since it would be such a pity, With the guard on going astray. It is useless for working hard. For all of the food that you eat; If fried and it does become charred, Or while grilling of the meat. When you get up very early, After going to bed quite late; Will be finding themselves merely, Taking a shortcut to their fate. The Lord will see that you are fed, For the ones who get enough sleep; The Lord loves those who go to bed, Like a shepherd watching His sheep. Children are an inheritance, Truly as a gift from the Lord; With a continued existence, Fruit of the womb as His reward. Children are born to a woman, While she is still very young; Having a daughter or a son, Like a new song that has been sung. Blessings to the man, who has filled, His bequest in them to proclaim; Spoken to others at his guild, As He never puts them to shame. Happy are those who will quiver, If they put anyone to shame; No comfort to those who shiver, After having disgraced their name. C Copyright © 2015 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
