Tritons spring from the head
as mushrooms sprout from the brain
they are poised and set in various poses
not unlike those plastic warriors
decorating so many ancient
childhood birthday cakes
I can use them as I wish now
for they come to life at my command
having no energy of their own, they wait
hoping to be used
and I,  knowing I have them,
fear nothing
