My young bride and I were destined
We meet in college and we married
I realized it was more than fate
That we kept meeting in strange places
November 17, 1961 the wedding day

Some odd things that only fate

I first met my wife when she
was seven and I was eleven
We grew up in the same neighborhood
She was a friend of my best friend's sister
She and her friend were constantly
ratting and getting us in trouble with Mom
"Ronnie and Dandy, Mom are doing this!"
Never expected to see that brat again!
Years later I was in college dating a dormmate
I had no shame saying that girl is pretty
I thought at the time I had a soulmate
She said you might know Sheri she lived by you
When you were growing up I knew no such beauty
trust me guy it is a kiss of death when
your girlfriend or boyfriend say, "We should date others."
I was crushed when my girlfriend said we were
too serious and it was affecting our grades
We needed to break up for a while for studies
I hit the books didn't read them I hit them
All I could see in the book was my ex-girlfriend
I was crushed and later given the real reason
Her boyfriend from home arrived for a visit
He was on tour and a sixties rock star singer
He went on to top ten fame forgot his old flame
He went back on tour and it was Valentine's day
I was going to win her back I bought a dozen and a half roses
Biggest box of heart chocolates I couldn't afford
And a monster stuffed pig for her collection
I could barely handle the stuff walking to her dorm
I ran into the girl who warned me about my ex,
That I was one woman I didn't realize she may have had interest
"She said you didn't learn a thing she not good enough for you."
It was spur of the Moment, "I did-- the roses are for you!"
Mixed emotion walked on. The love of my life
was working at the front desk for the first time I noticed the truth.
She said, "For Judy?" I gave her the chocolates,
"For you, I think the stuffed pig is appropriate for Judy."
