Praying Alligator
By the edge of the water,
on the muddy shore
Hid a huge alligator, the
hero of this lore
Well camouflaged and
stock still like a rock
It waited patiently there
round the clock
It kept on waiting there
day after day
Praying for some animal
to come it's way
A millennium passed with no
answer to it's prayers
Now it's fossil is still waiting
under the rock layers
