Old Ladder
Old ladder has been patiently
leaning against the wall
Waiting for someone to climb
it and then take a fall
It knows that it's top rung is
surely about to break
Break it will but someone's
arm or leg it will take
Mean old ladder has always
been an unlucky charm
Over the years it has caused
so many people harm
It's days of mischief are numbered
now in all the likelihood
For the moment that it's top rung
breaks it will be firewood
leaning against the wall
Waiting for someone to climb
it and then take a fall
It knows that it's top rung is
surely about to break
Break it will but someone's
arm or leg it will take
Mean old ladder has always
been an unlucky charm
Over the years it has caused
so many people harm
It's days of mischief are numbered
now in all the likelihood
For the moment that it's top rung
breaks it will be firewood
