The compassion I see when I gaze in your eyes
As the tears flow down your face
Exposes the passion deep inside
Transcending time and space.
Your daily journey of adrenaline
Through madness and despair
This world needs people like yourself,
Those who truly care
It is exhausting and heartbreaking,
More than a playwright could create
But your existence here is no accident;
Some would call it fate.
The sick and addicted come to you
When others show no care
They come for treatment in the end,
Though a cure is just not there
They meet an angel wearing scrubs
Whose determination will not fade.
You care for them and clean them up
Whether they need surgery or a band-aid.
You humbly accept their gratitude
Saying you’re just doing your part
Yet the patients see what I have seen
You have an amazing heart.
