AWAKEN TO....my ode to Spring

contained within the sun you'll find

the makings of human smiles

see them everywhere gentle lines on the worn faces

of people

as they bask in a brilliant solar amber glow

every freckle is

a strawberry kiss

a blush of radiant energy

notice how shoulders seem to lift

corners of eyes seem to crinkle

and how arms swing back-forth merrily in time

like wee-willy happy goat-feet

Spring has its own lilting harmony

tempo and skip-to-the-heart beat

so fresh-new with each quivering breeze

sending a delighted shiver through

all the awakening trees and their budding leaves

and how all the young Robins do sing-sing-sing

an Hallelujah-of-Joy

which rises embracing

the fondant clouds of heaven.
