Merle's Arrival
Upon the sixth day of April
Upon his birthday, by the way,
The Hag went Home to Jesus.
What a sad yet glorious day!
It's so sad for those remaining...
His fans, friends, and family.
But t'was a glorious Homecoming
As Merle made Eternity.
All we can do is just imagine
For none of us can yet relate.
But I kind of think his mama
Was the first one at the Gate.
O, there'll be no tears in Heaven...
Except maybe tears of joy.
But I can visualize her radiance
As she welcomes in her boy.
Then, of course, would be his daddy
And I guess all of his clan...
But in that welcoming committee
Would be a many friend and fan.
I believe Miss Bonnie's standing with them.
It's just natural she would be.
But I think that line holds Johnny Cash,
Buck Owens and E.T.
And, of course, there would be Leonard...
Tommy Collins you'll recall.
Ray Price, George Jones, and Lefty.
I simply cannot name them all.
But I can visualize Merle making
Sure He's greeted every peer
But there's Someone He has got to see
Who is not found standing here.
So He makes his way up to The Throne...
A look of peace soon floods his face.
As he suddenly slips right into
His Lord and Savior's warm embrace.
So let's not dwell on his departure.
This would only make him sad.
Let's all picture his arrival
With a welcome like he's never had.
RIP Merle!
